IBSL Gets ‘Tough’ on National Sales

After joining SIG recently in as National Sales Manager for IBSL, John Reid was ready for a fresh challenge – but taking part in the ‘Tough Mudder’ race was not quite what he had in mind!

Having worked in various roles throughout the SIG group over the last 12 years, John made his move to IBSL with the objective of driving new business and strengthening existing relationships with specifiers, contractors and developers nationwide. However, just a few weeks into getting stuck into his new role, John was asked to get ‘stuck’ into Tough Mudder!

“A team was already competing from SIG and they needed another member – having worked in various businesses in the group over the years, I know quite a lot of people and wanted to step up and help the guys out,” explains John.

A team challenge featuring world class obstacles, Tough Mudder is not for the faint hearted, with many people undergoing grueling training in preparation to take part: “I wasn’t planning on running the race so went into it completely unprepared! But the team was great and helped me through the course. We all pulled together in the same we would from a business perspective.”

In spite of this year’s race being extremely challenging, John has already committed to taking part in 2016: “Now I know what to expect, I know how to train and have a whole year to prepare. It was great to go in as part of a wider SIG team and would definitely do the same again. Unless I can convince my new IBSL colleagues to participate too of course!”
